(BEDFORD) - In a short year, the playground at St. Vincent de Paul School was resurfaced, with a poured-in-place rubber surface and a new donated play set was constructed.
At the beginning of last year a small group of parents set out to make the playground, cleaner and a safe area for children to play.
As with any project it was a team effort; but it soon became a community project.
With the help of many dedicated families the new playground area became a reality.
School officials, the parish, parents and students would like to thank the private donors and the men and women from the Indiana Laborers' Training Trust Fund.
Not only did the laborers' training center let crews borrow tools needed for the project, they also allowed a class of skilled laborers to use classroom time to help install some of the poured-in-place rubber material.
Thanks go to Bedford Office Supply Inc. who helped crews move the material not once but three times with very little notice.
Bedford Machine & Tool Inc. provided a flatbed truck and driver to help move material.
Indian Creek Quarries LLC not only delivered a smaller load than normal, but also donated some stone for the project.
The following is a big thank you from the St. Vincent de Paul Parent Teacher Group:
"As a community we need to respect the ones who help without even wanting a thank you in return. Please show your thanks and respect to these wonderful businesses in our community. Let this remind us all, that even if it is a small part you play, all the parts add up to something great! Donate your time, your talents, or any one of God's blessings and great things will come of it. THANK YOU!"
