(MITCHELL) - Mitchell residents may soon be alerted about boil orders, water outages, tornado warning and other special announcements via text message if city officials decides to implement a contact with American Marketing and Publishing.
The Times Mail reports that Melanie Sanders presented the idea to Mitchell's Board of Public Works and Safety.
The board suggested that Sanders present the information to city council members.
The plan, which costs $995 annually, would allow officials to alert residents via text message of a concern. Residents would sign up to receive the messages.
Council member Everett Ferrel, who likes the idea, says if the council favored the plan. The board could sign the contract at its next meeting on November 10.
