Man Facing New Charges After Police Find Shotgun, Meth, Pills In Home

(IRELAND) - An Ireland man was arrested after police found packages of meth and other prescription drugs.

According to police, community correction officials and police officers went to a home in the 5000 block of West State Road 56, Monday morning to search the home for possible drugs.

During the search, officers found a 12-gauge Benelli shotgun, a syringe, four baggies containing a powdery substance that tested positive for meth and four different types of prescription pills,that no one in the home had a prescription for

Police arrested 33-year-old Gerald Bates Jr, who was serving a sentence on house arrest.

Bates is now facing felony charges of possession of a firearm while dealing meth, possession of a firearm while possessing meth and maintaining a common nuisance. He is also being charged with five Class A misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.
