Jasonville Woman Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash On Ind. 54 West

Last updated on Friday, November 6, 2015

(SPRINGVILLE) - A Jasonville woman complained of hip and pelvis pain after a two-vehicle accident on Ind. 54 West Wednesday night.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 16-year-old Mackinzie Wease of Avoca had slowed her 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier to make a right turn onto Bridwell Street.

At the same time 45-year-old Matthew Shell of Terre Haute, who was driving a 2007 Ford Ranger and was behind Wease, saw her stop but told police he thought Wease was going to turn left into the Avoca Post Office parking lot.

Wease told police she had been having intermittent problems with her turn signals and sometimes they didn't work. She also told police she was not sure she had used her turn signal.

Shell passed Wease's car on the right at the same time she attempted to turn right onto Bridwell Street.

The two vehicles collided. Shell's truck then struck a retaining wall.

Shell's passenger, 31-year-old Rebecca Stackman of Jasonville, complained of stomach and hip pain.

Police say the turn signals were not working when they tested them at the accident site.

Assisting at the scene was Perry Volunteer Fire Department, an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew and Bedford Fire Department extrication unit.
