Four Arrested, Linked To Murder Of Austin Jewelry Shop Owner

(AUSTIN) - Police have at least one person of interest in custody in the robbery that turned deadly at John’s Coin and Jewelry Shop at 61 West Main Street in Austin.

Police have at least one person of interest in custody in the robbery that turned deadly at John's Coin and Jewelry Shop at 61 West Main Street in Austin.

The person or persons of interest entered the shop then robbed, shot and killed the store owner, 79-year-old John Turner. An autopsy revealed that Turner died from a gunshot wound to the head.

On Monday afternoon, Indiana State Troopers, Austin City Police and Scott County Sheriff deputies went to a home at 5221 Water Tower Road just north of Austin.

When officers arrived at the residence they found 31-year-old James Caudill and his brother, 21-year-old Christopher Caudill in a wooded area near the home. Police then found 23-year-old Ginger Cox hiding inside of the home. James Caudill and Cox were wanted on warrants for auto theft out of Scott County.

ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin says during a search of the home officers found money, jewelry and other items allegedly associated with the robbery and murder of John Turner.

"At this time investigators believe they have at least one person of interest in custody associated with the robbery and murder of John Turner," Goodin added.

Four people were arrested as a result of the Monday investigation. Christopher Caudill is facing charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of meth and dealing in meth. James Caudill and Ginger Cox are both facing charges of auto theft and unauthorized entry of motor vehicle. 50-year-old Patricia A. Caudill is facing charges of assisting a criminal.
