(BLOOMINGTON) - A new drone video offers never-before-seen aerial views of I-69 Section 4, which opens to traffic between Crane and Bloomington before the end of this year. Indiana Department of Transportation premiered the video at this week’s I-69 Regional Summit hosted by the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.
The 13-minute video is available on INDOT's YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/41Pqh2DHsK4. It shows 360-degree views of the State Road 45, County Line and State Road 37 exits as well as major bridges along the 27-mile construction project.
Because I-69 Section 4 is being built in areas inaccessible to the public, a drone was used in late October to capture footage showing construction progress. The drone was operated by a licensed pilot with engineering consultant Lochmueller Group under a Federal Aviation Administration commercial authorization.

The new Interstate 69 between Evansville and Indianapolis is a key component to the future economic vitality of southwestern Indiana, and will connect an entire region with improved access to jobs, education and healthcare.
The 142-mile I-69 corridor is divided into six sections. The first three sections opened for business in November 2012, saving motorists more than 30 minutes of travel time between Evansville and Crane. I-69 Development Partners is rehabilitating and upgrading the existing State Road 37 between Bloomington and Martinsville into I-69 Section 5.
