(VINCENNES) - Bedford North Lawrence High School Band Director Jim Jones will conduct the southwest region Indiana Bandmasters Association 2015 All-District Honor Band November 21-22 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.
Vincennes University Department of Music is hosting the event and is one of eight Indiana sites to host IBA District Honor Band events.
Musicians from 16 area high schools will take part.
The highlight of the weekend will be the performance by the Honor Band on November 22, at 4 p.m. at the
Skelton Center. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

VU will host high school students from Barr-Reeve, Boonville, Evansville Central, Loogootee, Mater Dei, North Daviess, North Knox, North Posey, Pike Central, Princeton, South Knox, Southridge, Sullivan, Tecumseh, Vincennes Lincoln, and Washington.
The 58-piece ensemble, under the direction of guest conductor Jones, will rehearse all day Saturday and part of
Sunday.
About The Conductor
Jim Jones currently serves as Director of Bands at Bedford North Lawrence High School in Bedford. He previously held the same position at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City, Indiana, and North Harrison High School in Ramsey, Indiana. A native of Yorktown, Indiana, he earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State University and his master's degree from Walden University.
The conductor's junior and senior high school music ensembles have consistently received gold ratings at Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) band festivals, and his marching bands have been finalists at the ISSMA State Marching Contest, Indiana State Fair Band Day, and Mid-States Marching Band Competition.
In addition to his teaching duties, he has served as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for various band festivals. He has been named to Who's Who of American High School Teachers and received the Extra Mile
Award from the North Spencer School Corporation. Jones holds professional memberships in the Indiana Bandmasters Association (IBA), Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA), National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), and Indiana Jazz Educators Association (IJEA). He currently serves on the IMEA Honor Band Committee, is an IBA Board Member, and is serving a third term on the ISSMA State Board.
