Bedford Seniors Can Receive Box Of Food Staples Tuesday

(BEDFORD) - The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) operated by the Hoosier Hills Food Bank is currently enrolling seniors to receive a monthly box of needed food.

The 40-pound box contains items including: two boxes of cereal, two bags of pasta, two bottles of juice, two cartons of shelf-stable milk, canned fruits and vegetables, a protein item such as beans or peanut butter, a can of beef stew, and a two-pound block of cheese.

Once a senior is enrolled in the program, he or she is guaranteed a box every month.

To qualify, a person must be 60 years of age or older and earn a total household income of 130 percent or less of the Federal Income Poverty Level. For a one-person household this is $1,276 a month or $15,301 a year; for a two-person household this is $1,726 a month or $20,709 a year.
