Bedford Man Sentenced To 15 Years After Pleading Guilty To Child Molesting

Last updated on Wednesday, November 11, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he plead guilty to a Level 3 felony charge of child molesting.

30-year-old Joshua Jackson pleaded guilty to the crime on August 26, but then decided to have his public defender Bruce Andis to withdraw that guilty plea claiming the factual basis of the plea was false and that he wished to have a jury to determine his fate.

Judge Michael Robbins denied the withdrawal of the guilty plea on November 4.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jackson was charged with three felony counts of child molesting after he allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old girl.

The relationship was discovered after a friend of the teen alerted school officials that a man living in the home was having a sexual relationship with her friend.

Judge Robbins sentenced Jackson to 15 years in prison with four years suspended. Two of those four years will be served on supervised probation and two will be on unsupervised probation. Jackson is to have no contact with the victim and must register as a sex offender.
