(MITCHELL) - The board of Virgil I. Grissom Inc. will have work days this Saturday and Saturday, October 31 at the Grissom Boyhood Home, 715 W. Grissom Ave.
The board hopes to get the home ready for winter by painting windows inside and out, building and installing storm windows and planting bulbs and flowers.
The workdays will be from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Anyone wishing to help is welcome.
The house will close its regular Saturday tours on October 31.
Special events are being planned for the winter months, including a Christmas event, a memorial event in January and an observance of Grissom's birthday in April.
The home will reopen for regular tours on Memorial Day weekend in 2016.
