(BROWNSTOWN) - A Brownstown Central High School student accused of bringing a loaded handgun to school Monday morning will appear in court on Friday.

The teen, whose name has not been released, made his first appearence in court hours after the incident.

The outcome of that detention hearing sent the 15-year-old freshman to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center in Brownstown until a second hearing on Friday.

Police are continuing their investigations into why the teen brought the weapon to school. Officers had quickly arrived at the school on Monday after a 911 call.

They do not have evidence that anyone had been threatened by the youth.

"At no time were any other students or staff in danger," says Principal Joe Sheffer.

Police did a complete walkthrough of the building and remained present on campus the remainder of Monday.
