Last updated on Monday, October 19, 2015

(BROWNSTOWN) - Police continue to investigate a head-on collision east of Brownstown on Sunday afternoon that left a 17-year-old boy dead and two other people hospitalized in Indianapolis.

Aaron Michael Greathouse of Seymour was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, according to a news release from Jackson County Sgt. Stan Darlage. Greathouse was driving a 1987 Nissan Maxima east on County Road 25 North.

The wreck, reported at 2:35 p.m. in the 2100 block of that road, also involved two people in a 2004 Nissan Maxima. Those people were 21-year-old Caleb P. Cartmel and 17-year-old Ian T. Cartmel, both from Westfield. They were both flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with unspecified injuries.

Police say the vehicle the Cartmel's were in caught fire. One of the passengers was thrown from the vehicle and the other was trapped inside and was pulled from the burning vehicle by witnesses who saw the wreck occur.
