Part Of Monroe County Will Be Without Power Tuesday

Last updated on Friday, October 9, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Part of Monroe County will be going dark for about eight hours on October 13, but the purpose is to make it easier to isolate and to repair electrical problems in the future.

Duke Energy has a planned outage scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Tuesday in a portion of the Highlands subdivision on the southwest side of Bloomington.

An upgrade to the current electrical system that will make repairs easier in the future requires a blackout of about eight hours, according to Angeline Protogere, communications manager at Duke.

About 240 customers are expected to be without power for the period.
