Last updated on Friday, October 9, 2015

(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured in an accident at John Williams Boulevard and R Street Thursday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 35-year-old Melanie Smith of Oolitic was in the left lane of John Williams Boulevard in a 2003 Suzuki Aerio and was traveling west when she noticed a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox at the stop sign at R Street.

The Equinox, driven by Peggy Thompson, proceeded north crossing John Williams Boulevard.

Smith told police that she attempted to apply her brakes to stop but was unable to so. She attempted to miss the vehicle by turning the wheel, but still ended up colliding with the vehicle.

Thompson told police that she didn't see the other vehicle when she pulled out onto John Williams Boulevard.

Smith complained of chest and face pain and suffered bruises to her arm. Her 15-year-old son suffered face, knee and leg pain.

Thompson was not injured during the incident.
