Mitchell Man Arrested After Allegedly Strangling Woman

Last updated on Friday, October 16, 2015

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after he allegedly strangled a woman.

Police arrested 23-year-old Dalton Sosh on a warrant charging him with strangulation, criminal confinement and domestic battery.

He is being held without bond at the Lawrence County Jail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on September 9 a woman reported she was moving out of the apartment she and Sosh shared when he became angry.

The woman said she tried to grab her purse and leave but Sosh grabbed her neck and slid her up the wall. The woman told police she began to lose consciousness and everything started to "go black." She then pretended to pass out. Sosh then checked her eyes with a flashlight.

The woman got up and again tried to escape, but Sosh grabbed her and threw her down again.

The woman said Sosh then placed frozen peas and ice on her chest and hand warmers on her back, attempting to minimize the injuries he had caused.

Sosh returned to work and the next morning members of the victim's family saw her bruises and accompanied her to the police department to file a report.

The report states the woman suffered bruising on the neck, both forearms, her right upper arm and the upper left side of the left leg. The officer also observed bruising on the left side of her neck, which, the document reads, "appeared to be a hand imprint and separated fingers."
