Martinsville Man Falls From Treestand

Last updated on Monday, October 5, 2015

(MORGAN CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers were called to southern Morgan County Saturday morning to investigate a man that had fallen from his treestand.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. 34-year-old Joshua Sparrow of Martinsville was climbing his tree stand to affix more hunting equipment to the tree.

As he was climbing back down the ladder, a branch he was using for balance broke, causing him to fall approximately 18 feet to the ground.

Sparrow was able to call 911 to get help and directed first responders to his location.

Sparrow had his safety harness on, but had not hooked up the safety lanyard to the tree for his descent.

He was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and treated for back and leg pain.
