Last updated on Wednesday, October 21, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested after a cat-calling incident escalated into the man grabbing the woman and threatening her.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters, the woman was assaulted while walking home just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police found the woman at 10th and Walnut Streets.

The woman told police the man had been cat-calling her, then grabbed her from behind, pulled her close and started "grinding" on her. The man then demanded her house keys, saying he wanted to take her home, and unzipped a pocket on her jacket. The man then threatened to find her and kill her.

The man's friend told the woman the man was drunk and didn't mean any harm.

Police were able to locate 26-year-old Josue Uzcategui. He had an unlicensed handgun and a small amount of marijuana in his possession.

In an interview with police, the man reported he and the woman got into a verbal argument after she was rude to him on the sidewalk. He claimed he didn't touch the woman.

The man's friend told investigators he only saw the two argue.

Uzcategui was arrested on charges of attempted robbery, intimidation, sexual battery, possession of a handgun without a license and possession of marijuana.
