(JACKSON CO.) - The Indiana State Police report that police dog Kane is retiring after 8 years on the force. Kane spent most of his career in Bartholomew, Jackson and Jennings counties working with his handler Trooper Stephen Wheeles.
Kane, a 9-year-old German shepherd, was responsible for seizing hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs and captured many suspects.
Wheeles says, Kane loved to conduct demonstration programs held at many local schools, businesses and organizations.
Kane will continue to live with Wheeles and his family at their rural Jackson County home.
