Former Seymour Teacher Arrested After Breaking Into Estranged Wife's Home

Last updated on Monday, October 12, 2015

(SEYMOUR) - Police arrested a former Seymour Middle School teacher on charges of residential entry and battery with injury, three months after he was arrested on a charge of child molesting.

The new charges against Aaron D. Murray stem from an incident reported at 8:09 p.m. Wednesday when police responded to a 911 call in the 800 block of Raymon Drive near Kasting Park.

According to police reports, Murray showed up at a residence where his estranged wife was visiting friends and wanted to speak to her.

The Seymour school board fired Murray in July after he was arrested on three counts of child molesting involving one of his students. Murray was a seventh-grade math teacher at the time of the arrest.

According to police, Murray is accused of having a relationship with a 12-year-old student. Officials say the two spent time together at school-related activities, but once school ended in May, the relationship intensified with social media interactions, shopping and hikes.

Police became involved on July 1 when the girl's parents reached out to authorities after hearing about inappropriate text messages on their daughter's phone.

According to police, based on information from Murray, they're aware of three or four incidents that they believe Murray engaged in sexual contact with the girl. Police say Murray cooperated with police and admitted to the allegations.

Police say at this time they're not aware of any other victims.

Murray was out on bond at the time of this new offense with a jury trial scheduled for January 19 at 8:30 a.m.
