Last updated on Monday, October 12, 2015

(BEDFORD) - The City of Bedford is negotiating a deal to move and refurbish the old Milwaukee Railroad Depot.

The city received two bids to move the depot from its current site to a vacant lot at 14th and J street in April. The move will take the depot about 1,200 feet south of it's current location and the job is expected to take a year to complete.

The city received two bids for the project:

The first bid was under the engineer's estimate of $2,425,000 allowing the city to move forward.

The move is part of the Stellar Community project with a majority of the funding (80 percent) up to $2,144,400 will be provided by the Indiana Department of Transportation.
