(BLOOMINGTON) - The person found in Griffy Lake on Friday night has been identified as IU student Joseph Smedley.
Smedley was reported missing earlier this week.
The cause of death is consistent with drowning.
Bloomington Police were called to Lake Griffey just after 6:30 p.m. Friday about a body in Lake Griffey.
The lake is located off Headley Road on the city's north side.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Bloomington Police Department are continuing the investigation.
