(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested Thursday, just hours after he allegedly attacked a woman while she slept.
According to Bloomington Police Captain Joe Qualters, officers arrested 55-year-old Michael Martin on a felony charge of rape and sexual assault.
According to police, Martin allegedly initiated the assault while the victim was asleep. She awoke, finding Martin on top of her. Police say the woman was able to get free from Martin and call police.
Police say Martin denied the allegations and fought with police during his arrest.
Qualters says this is the fourth sexual allegation of Martin attempting to engage in sexual activity, though police were not called in previous instances.
