(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was injured after a van collided with his motorcycle at James Avenue and 16th Street at 5:24 p.m.
According to a Bedford Police report, when police arrived they found 51-year-old James Doyle of Bedford lying in the middle of the road, injured.
According to police Doyle was traveling west on James Avenue from 16th Street when 86-year-old Asa Burgess of Bedford pulled her 1994 Chevrolet van from the access road behind McDonald's into the path of Doyle's 2013 Harley Davidson.
Burgess told police that he had stopped at the stop sign and looked for cars and then proceeded. He told police that he never looked for motorcycles, just cars, and didn't see the motorcycle approaching.
Police say Burgess then pulled his van into the path of Doyle's motorcycle. Doyle attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to and laid the motorcycle down, which threw Doyle from the bike, pinning him under the bike. Other motorists at the scene were able to lift the motorcycle from Doyle and push it into a nearby parking lot.
Doyle suffered possible leg and foot fractures and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Burgess was not injured during the incident.
