Last updated on Wednesday, October 7, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A Springville man was arrested after police received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of 7th and H streets early Saturday morning.

The caller reported that there were two people sitting in a white vehicle and that every so often they would get out of the vehicle, walk up and down the road and then return to the vehicle.

When police arrived just before 5 a.m., they found 24-year-old Matthew Reynolds of Springville with a female. Police say Reynolds' eyes were glassy, his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

The woman told police Reynolds was there to give her a pack of cigarettes.

Officers were given permission to search the vehicle and found plastic bags of pills including Gabapentin, a legend drug, and Alprazolam, a schedule IV controlled substance.

Reynolds was arrested on charges of public intoxication, possession of a legend drug and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.

The woman was released.
