(CRYSTAL) - An accident near Crystal on Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Paoli woman.
According to a Dubois County Police report, 71-year-old Beverly Stiles was driving east on State Road and told police at the accident scene that she has pulled her 2002 Toyota Camry to the outside of the roadway to make way for an approaching combine. The Toyota's wheels went off the road and then traveled into a ditch before striking the end of the ditch. The car then reentered the roadway before coming to a stop.
The Dubois Volunteer Fire Department first responders had to free Stiles from the wreckage by cutting the wreckage apart in several areas. She was then taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital where she was flown by a medical helicopter to St Mary's Medical Center where she died from internal injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
