Commission On The Status of Children and Youth Seeks Nominees for Award

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Children and Youth is seeking nominees for the Commission's 2015 S.W.A.G.G.E.R. (Students Who Act Generously, Grow, and Earn Respect) Award.

This award is open to all students who live or attend school within the geographical boundaries of the Monroe County Community School Corporation. The Commission on the Status of Children and Youth created this award to honor youth who show commitment to certain causes or display actions that have improved their lives and/or the lives of others around them. Students may be recognized for volunteer service to a non-profit organization, assisting a friend or neighbor in need, working and also attending school, mentoring a younger sibling, exemplifying a positive attitude among peers or showing respect for others. Nominators may include but are not limited to teachers, social workers, parents, guardians, peers, religious leaders, volunteers, siblings or anyone who knows a youth who has improved their lives or the lives of others in the community. Awards will be presented according to grade levels - K-3, 4-6, 7-8 and 9-12.

The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Children and Youth identifies and assesses needs, resources and services relating to children and youth, empowers children and youth to reach their full potential, and celebrate successes. The nomination forms for the S.W.A.G.G.E.R. Award will be available online at the City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Children and Youth's website at bloomington.in.gov/cscy from Oct. 20 to Nov. 17, 2015. Hard copies of the nomination form will be available at the City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department, 401 N. Morton St., Ste. 260. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Nov. 17th. The S.W.A.G.G.E.R. Award winners will be announced prior to the Monroe County Community School Corporation's winter break.
