Woman Sentenced To Six Years In Prison On Drug Charges And Fleeing From Police

(BEDFORD) - A woman was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison for aiding or inducing dealing in meth and two
years for leading police on a pursuit while intoxicated on the drug.

Superior Court II Judge Williams Sleva ordered 49-year-old Katrina Saunders of Crestwood, Ky. to six years in prison on the charge of aiding or inducing dealing in meth, a Class B felony. The judge suspended three years to be served on supervised probation. She received credit for 122 days already served. Sleva also recommended her to participate in the therapeutic community at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Saunders was also sentenced on a different charge of fleeing police after they attempted to stop her in July for speeding. Saunders admitted she was intoxicated by meth at the time.

In that case Sauders pleaded guilty to two charges of resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person and possession of meth, a Class A misdemeanor and a Level 6 felony. Judge Sleva sentenced her to two years at the DOC, which will be served consecutive to the sentence for dealing meth. He also ordered Sauders to participate in the therapeutic community at DOC. Judge Sleva also suspended her driver's license for 302 days.

According to the plea deals, the following charges were dropped: unlawful sale of a precursor, Class D felony; maintaining a common nuisance, Level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, Class A misdemeanor; resisting law enforcement, Class A misdemeanor; possession of paraphernalia, Class C misdemeanor; reckless driving, Class C misdemeanor; and 23 traffic infractions.
