Scammer Using Dubois County Sheriff's Deputy's Idenitity

(DUBOIS CO.) - The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents that a scammer is using a deputy’s identity to scam people out of money.

According to police, someone representing themselves as Deputy John Anderson is calling residents and informing them they are wanted on a warrant. The scammer then attempts to solicit money from the victim or they will go to jail.

Anyone receiving calls from a person representing themselves as Deputy Anderson is asked to call the Dubois Sheriff's Department at (812) 482-3522 or the dispatch center at (812) 482-9111 to verify.
