Last updated on Thursday, September 3, 2015

(DUBOIS CO.) - Officers with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police eradicated approximately 269 marijuana plants in southwestern Dubois County Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Dubois County Prosecutor's Office, officers located the three plots of marijuana growing inside cornfields near Holland after spotting the three plots while flying over the area.

Both the Indiana State Police and the Dubois County Sheriff's Department frequently fly over the county in an effort to locate any illegal marijuana grow operations.

After confirming the existence of the three plots, the Dubois County Sheriff's Department worked with the Dubois County Prosecutor's Office to obtain a search warrant that allowed police to place surveillance equipment around the plots in order to monitor any activity in those areas.

The investigation continues into who planted and cared for the plants.

Anyone with information concerning the plots is asked to contact Narcotics Officer John Anderson at (812) 639-9055 or (812) 482-3522.
