(FRENCH LICK) - An Orange County Sheriff's Deputy saved an infant after pulling the child from a burning vehicle.

Deputy Dustin Rosenbaum was called to an accident at 6:42 p.m. Sunday in the 9300 block of South County Road 175 South in French Lick. When the deputy arrived the vehicle was on its top and on fire.

The driver, Bradley Garrison, was outside of the vehicle. Two men at the scene helped push the vehicle back on its wheels and that is when the deputy discovered a car seat with a baby inside. Rosenbaum busted the window and climbed inside.

By the time he got the window open, the fire was through the windshield and moving to the interior of the car. Rosenbaum reached into the window to unlatch the baby's car seat and saved 5-month-old Elizabeth Garrison. Soon after the car was engulfed in flames.

Garrison was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and neglect of a dependent.

Today Orange County Sheriff Josh Babcock is honoring Deputy Rosenbaum with a lifesaving award.
