(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell man was flown by medical helicopter for treatment after he was injured when his truck flipped on Ind. 37

According to a Bedford Police report, 51-year-old Brett Sanders of Mitchell was traveling south on Ind. 37 at a high-rate of speed passing vehicles while in the right lane.

Witnesses told police that Sanders waited until the last minute to merge into the left lane where the road merges from two lanes to one.

Sanders' 1999 General Motors pickup ran off the left side of the road where the road began to curve and struck the rock wall which caused the pickup to flip. The truck skid about 151 feet until it stopped.

Sanders was trapped inside the vehicle and was freed by Bedford Fire Department extrication team using the jaws of life.

Sanders, who complained of pain and suffered abrasions to his entire body, was taken by a Seals ambulance to a helicopter landing area.

He told police he didn't remember what happened before the accident and thought he had blacked out.
