McCormick's Creek State Park Hosts BBQ & Blues Festival Saturday

(SPENCER) - McCormick’s Creek State Park will host the seventh annual BBQ and Blues Festival on Saturday, September 12.

The festival runs from noon to 8 p.m. outside the nature center.

Food vending will be provided by Smokin' Jack's Rib Shack and Carson's BBQ. Canyon Inn will present a beer and wine garden.

Musical performances will begin at noon and feature Blue Rivieras, Fist Full of Bacon, Fruteland Jackson, and King Bee and the Stingers.

A Blues 101 Clinic runs from noon to 1 p.m. with Fruteland Jackson. The one-hour lecture and performance covers the origins of blues music from its early beginnings as field hollers and work songs to its current popularity.

A classic car show will last throughout the day.

All activities are in the pool and nature center parking area.

Programs are free, but the standard entrance fees of $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle will be charged.
