Loogootee Man Arrested After Fleeing From Police And K-9 Finds Drugs

(LOOGOOTEE) - A Loogootee man was arrested late Thursday after a traffic stop led officers on a short pursuit.

A Martin County Police officer pulled 41-year-old Troy Arvin over at Mill and Northwest Second Street in Loogootee after he ran a stop sign. After speaking with Arvin, the officers requested other officers to assist. Indiana State Police canine Virka conducted a search and alerted police to possible drugs in the vehicle.

As the state trooper approached Arvin and asked him to step out of the vehicle, Arvin refused, started his Pontiac Sunfire, and fled, leading police on a short pursuit before Arvin stopped.

He was arrested and taken to the Martin County Jail. Officers then obtained a search warrant and found meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Arvin is facing charges of dealing methamphetamine, Level 5 felony; possession of methamphetamine, Level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, Level 6 felony; obstruction of justice, Level 6 felony, maintaining a common nuisance, Level 6 felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, Class B misdemeanor.
