Food Service Employee Arrested After Alleged Sexual Encounter With Prisoner

(CARLISLE) - A Sullivan County woman was arrested after police say she had a sexual encounter with an inmate at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

Police arrested 25-year-old Deborah McElroy of Fairbanks on a charge of sexual misconduct with an inmate. She is being held in the Sullivan County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

McElroy was employed by ARAMAK, the facility offender food service provider. The alleged incidents took place in her assigned work area at the prison. She was terminated after ARAMARK heard about the incident. ARAMARK is the food service provider for all Indiana Department of Correction facilities.

The Office of Investigation and Intelligence began their investigation into the alleged sexual incident after they received a tip.

The name of the offender will not be released pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. He has been placed in a restrictive status housing unit.
