Fire Destroys Stately Home In Bloomfield

(BLOOMFIELD) - A fire Friday afternoon destroyed a stately home in Bloomfield Friday afternoon.

Numerous firefighters were called to the fire at 112 West Mechanic Street at 1:42 p.m.

The Greene County Daily World reports that at 7 p.m. firefighters were still on the scene.

The home, owned by Brent and Cheri Stone, is located close to downtown, a couple of blocks from the courthouse square.

The couple was renovating the home.

Firefighters from the Bloomfield Fire Department, Worthington Fire Department, Taylor Fire Department, Switz City Fire Department, Center Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, Owensburg Fire Department and possibly others battled the blaze.

Personnel from several law enforcement agencies were also assisting on the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
