Excise Police Cite More Than 50 During Two IU Football Games

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Excise Police arrested more than 50 people during the first two Indiana University home football games.

Most of the citations were issued for underage drinking.

According to police 41 people, ranging from 18 to 22-years-old received written citations or were taken to the Monroe County Jail during the season opener against Southern Illinois on Sept. 5

According to a press release, of that group, 34 people were charged with minors in possession of alcohol and illegal consumption. Police also caught 5 people with fake identifications.

A 22-year-old St. Louis man was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery, and two 21-year-old women were charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.

Last Saturday, during tailgate festivities for the game against Florida International, 12 people, all between the ages of 18 and 20, received citations. One 20-year-old had a fake ID.
