(CROTHERSVILLE) - DNA evidence from a four-year-old burglary case in the Crothersville area has led detectives to arrest 38-year-old Raymond Banks Jr.

Banks, of Crothersville, is already in Branchville Correctional Facility where he is serving a 4/12 sentence on a felony charge of possession of a syringe. He now will face new charges of burglary and theft related to an incident on March 27, 2011.

Banks is accused of breaking into a home on County Road 850 East and taking several items including guns.

According to Sheriff Michael Carothers, those involved in the burglary left behind several pieces of evidence which was used to gather DNA evidence and identify Banks.

It is standard procedure to collect DNA samples from those convicted of a felony and sentenced to the Department of Corrections.

Once Banks finishes his sentence in Branchville, he will be transported to Jackson County to face the burglary and theft charges.
