Daviess County Bustling With Activity This Weekend

(DAVIESS CO.) - Daviess County will be bustling with activity this weekend.

The 44th annual Montgomery Turkey Trot kicks off today and runs through Sunday at the Montgomery Ruritan Park. 

TURKEY TROT

The Turkey Trot, held at the Montgomery Ruritan Club Grounds, will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Carnival rides will run daily and a variety of vendors will be on the grounds.

Special events Thursday include bingo at 6:30 p.m., turkey races at 6 p.m. and the farm stock tractor pull at 6:45 p.m.

Friday's special events include a performance by country music star Craig Campbell at 8:15 p.m.

The grounds will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday when the 5K Turkey Trot Run begins. Other events slated for Saturday include open horse pulls at 10:30 a.m., mud volleyball at 11:30 a.m., cornhole at 12:30 p.m., Indiana Truck Pulling Association pull at 2 p.m., local musician Trey Hughes will perform from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and country star Jon Pardi will take the stage at 8:15 p.m.

Events Sunday open at noon with the turkey race championship at 12:15 p.m., followed by the demolition derby and 3-on-3 mud soccer both beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Advance all-day passes are $30. Tickets at the gate are $10 on Thursday and Sunday and $15 on Friday and Saturday.

WHITE RIVER VALLEY ANTIQUE SHOW

The 31st annual White River Valley antique show is Friday through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Elnora and will feature hundreds of antique tractors, engines, demonstrations, tractor pulls, food booths, flea market and more.

Gospel music will be featured during the event. Activities will take place during the day on Friday, but events will kick off at 7 p.m. with the horse pull hitches up and gospel sing at the shelter house at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday there will be a tractor parade at 2 p.m., the tractor games at 3 p.m., kids pedal pull at 4 p.m. and the Tri-State Tractor Pullers event in the area at 6 p.m.

Admission to the show is $5 for those over age 12 with the horse pull, tractor pull, and Tri-State Pullers events costing an additional $5 for those over age 12. Children age 12 and under are admitted free.

Events start at 9 a.m. Sunday with the church service in the Green Building. Limited demonstrations will run. A gospel sing will take place at 12:30 p.m. and the tractor parade will be at 2 p.m.

On Friday afternoon and continuing on Saturday, the second annual Chandelier Barn Market will take place on the Wilson Farm, located just north of Montgomery.

Hours for the Chandelier Barn Market, which will feature a variety of handmade, one-of-a-kind items including lighting, jewelry home decor and more, will be Friday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for Friday and $5 for Saturday.

Admission to the White River Valley Antique Show is $5 for those over age 12 with the horse pull, tractor pull, and Tri-State Pullers events costing an additional $5 for those over age 12. Children age 12 and under are admitted free.
