(JACKSON CO.) - Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Indiana State Police investigated a one vehicle motorcycle crash on I-65 near the 36 mile marker in Jackson County that injured a Lexington, KY man.

According to ISP Master Trooper Gary Thalls, 58-year-old Kenneth Ledford was traveling northbound on I-65 when the rear tire on his 2006 BMW motorcycle suddenly blew.

Ledford was unable to maintain control of the motorcycle causing it to overturn, throwing Ledford from the vehicle.

Ledford, who was wearing a helmet, suffered possible broken bones and lacerations. Master Trooper Thalls says the use of a helmet prevented Ledford from sustaining life threatening injuries.

Ledford was transported by ambulance to a Louisville area hospital for treatment.

I-65 was briefly shut down while the crash was investigated. Traffic was slowed in the area for approximately one hour.

Assisting at the scene was ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Crothersville Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Vernon Township Fire Department, Jackson County EMS, and Howard's Wrecker Service.
