Last updated on Thursday, August 13, 2015

(SALEM) - Salem High School Guidance Director is warning student and parents about a mailing from a company offering college admission and scholarship assistance.

Jennifer Martin, Director of Guidance at Salem High School, says several students have received the fraudulent mailings.

The letter encourages the parent to call and arrange an appointment or to come to a meeting at a hotel.

Martin noted on her Facebook page that, after listening to their "spiel", the family is encouraged to hire the company to provide college search and scholarship assistance.

Martin warns that this will cost anywhere from several hundred to thousands of dollars.

Student and parents are urged contact the guidance department at the high school for free assistance in finding colleges and scholarship assistance.

Parents with questions can contact a guidance department by calling the high school at (812) 883-3904.
