Program To Assist Producers And Landowners After Wet Season

Last updated on Wednesday, August 12, 2015

(SALEM) - Excessive rainfall, prolonged ponding, and flooded conditions of 2015 have resulted in many fields remaining unplanted and many acres of severely damaged or failed crops this season.

These acres should be managed in ways to prevent soil degradation and to increase soil productivity for next year.

The Farm Service Agency, Natural Resource Conservation Service and Purdue Extension have designed a program to assist producers and landowners with questions regarding soil regeneration strategies, cover crops and herbicide persistence.

This program will be offered on Friday, August 21 from 8:30 a.m. till 10 a.m. in the Meeting Room of the Washington County Government Building at 806 Martinsburg Road in Salem.

Registration prior to August 21 is appreciated, but not required.

For more information or if you need reasonable accommodations to participate in this program, contact Purdue Extension - Washington County at (812) 883-4601 or dhowellw@purdue.edu.
