Mitchell To Host Public Hearing On 2016 Proposed Budget

Last updated on Thursday, August 6, 2015

(MITCHELL) - The City of Mitchell will hold their first public hearing on their proposed 2016 budget on September 14 during their city council meeting.

Mitchell Clerk-treasurer George James told the Times-Mail that the city will advertise its budget at $2,343,733. Of that, $1,335,000 will be funded through tax dollars. He told the council he was trying to keep the city on track to have the recommended six months' worth of funding in the reserve account, and if the city maintained its current track without overspending in 2016, it could see a reserve of $900,000 by the end of next year.

If there are no objection to the budget it will be up for passage at the October 5 city council meeting.
