Police Looking For Man Who Attempted To Rob Linton Bar

Last updated on Thursday, August 27, 2015

(LINTON) - A wannabe robber was chased off from a Linton business after a customer chased him away with a pool stick.

According to Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell, a man, wearing a hoodie with a bandana over his face and armed with a gun, attempted to rob the Palace Bar located on West Vincennes Street in downtown Linton just before 3 a.m. Monday.

Two officers were on patrol close by but the robber had fled on foot before they arrived.

Police say that the man was wearing a hoodie pulled up on his head and had entered the bar earlier without making eye contact with anyone.

He then returned later wearing a camouflage jacket over the hoodie that was again pulled up on his head, and he had a bandana covering his face. He showed the bartender a gun and then demanded money. The bartender cooperated with the wannabe robbery, but one patron didn't.

The patron approached quickly from another area of the bar when he saw what was happening and confronted the armed man with a pool stick.

The suspect fled on foot.

Police are asking the public's help in identifying the man. He is described as being approximately six foot tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Linton Police Department by calling (812) 847-4411, or contact Crime Stoppers.
