Last updated on Wednesday, August 26, 2015

(JUDAH) - One person complained of pain after a five vehicle rear-end collision Tuesday at the intersection of Ind. 37 and Old Ind. 37.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 26-year-old Timothy Roberts of Springville was traveling in the southbound on Ind. 37 when he failed to notice other vehicle stopping at the intersection of Ind. 37 and Old Ind. 37.

Roberts' 1987 Chevrolet struck the rear of a 1993 GM driven by 40-year-old Jerry McCarty of Williams. His vehicle then struck the rear of a vehicle driven by 79-year-old John Anderson of Bedford. Anderson's vehicle then struck the rear of a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Trista Harris of Bloomington. Her vehicle then struck the rear of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma.

Roberts told police that at first he was only traveling around 10 miles per hour, but then said 20 miles per hour. However police say he had to be traveling faster because of the amount of damage to the vehicles.

Roberts was cited for unreasonable speed to avoid a collision.

Only McCarty was injured. He complained of neck pain following the incident.

Assisting at the scene was an IU Health Hospital ambulance, Bedford Fire Department extrication, Marshall Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Bedford Police Department officers.
