One Injured In Accident On U.S. 50 East

(HELTONVILLE) - A Bedford man complained of back pain after his vehicle was struck on U.S. 50 East near Ind. 446 Friday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 17-year-old Seth Thomas of Bedford was traveling eastbound in his new 1992 Toyota pickup. Thomas told police he had just bought the 5-speed manual shift truck and was looking down to make sure he had the vehicle in the right gear when he looked back up he noticed a vehicle stopped in front of him to make a left turn on Ind. 446.

To avoid that collision Thomas veered to the right, but over-corrected, going into the westbound lane striking a 2015 Chevrolet Express driven by 27-year-old Joshua Tolbert of Bedford.

Tolbert told police he attempted to serve to the right to avoid the collision but was unable to. Thomas' truck struck Tolbert's car in the driver's side door, pushing the door into Tolbert.

At first Tolbert told police he want not hurt and declined medical attention, but while speaking to police he said his back was hurting and did go to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital to be checked out.
