Linton Man Arrested For Threatening, Stalking Woman

(LINTON) - A Linton man accused of stalking a woman and threatening violence is behind bars.

Police arrested 36-year-old Nicholas Scott McElwee after he allegedly posted frightening and intimidating messages on a Facebook account.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on July 29 a woman who was married to McElwee reported she had filed for divorce and McElwee was making threats and she requested a protective order.

McElwee was allegedly living in Missouri had posted messages on his Facebook account that were frightening and intimidating.

In one message, McElwee allegedly stated, "I will be leaving in the morning and I'm not leaving Indiana until I get what is mine and until everyone else gets what they have coming to them" and "Nothing can stop me."

The woman said she was in fear of physical harm to herself and her child.

On the day the woman called police, McElwee allegedly posted a message that said "time to die so say goodbye watch my eyes before I pull the trigger, I'll murder you ...." followed by an expletive.

On August 17, McElwee returned to Linton and the woman says he was sending her threatening message.

The woman and her child were transported to a safe place outside the area.

On August 18, a Greene County Sheriff's deputy spotted McElwee parked in a truck along a road less than half a mile from the woman's house. He was arrested and transported to jail.

McElwee remains in jail where he was being held without bond in a prior case involving a previous invasion of privacy charge, and on a $20,000 bond in the stalking case.
