Learn More About Proper Painting Methods For Historic Buildings

(BEDFORD) - If you own an historic building, and want to learn more about proper painting methods, plan to attend the Bedford Revitalization, Inc. (BRI) paint workshop on August 20, from 6:30 p.m. till 8 pm.

The Historic Preservation Committee of BRI, in cooperation with the Southern Regional Office of Indiana Landmarks, will host the workshop for those who want to keep the paint on their historic homes. The workshop will be held at the Wiley House Art Center, behind the Lawrence County Museum, at the corner of 14th and J Streets.

The cost of the workshop is $10/person. Refreshments will be provided and RSVPs are requested so we know how many to expect. Zmyslo comes from Indianapolis, IN. He served as Director of Restoration Services for Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana from 1999-2006 where he was in charge of maintaining the Foundation's museum properties. Currently Zmyslo is the construction manager for the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites overseeing 11 historic sites which include over 140 structures. He has a Master's of Science Historic Preservation Degree from Ball State University. He is involved in on-going research with Purdue and Ball State professors on exterior paint performance and energy efficiency of historic structures. He has over 45 years' experience in the building industry. This is one of a series of workshops hosted by BRI on window restoration, masonry, and other topics to assist building owners in caring for their historic properties.
