(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University employees enrolled in IU-sponsored medical plans could have had personal information leaked as part of a data breach in May at an electronic medical records company.
The Herald Times reports, the data breach at Medical Informatics Engineering in Fort Wayne affected the records of roughly 4 million patients, including those at IU under the company's subsidiary called NoMoreClipboard.
According to IU spokeswoman Margie Smith-Simmons, MoMoreClipboard reported information compromised includes names, dates of birth, health plan names, addresses and telephone numbers. Employees who created accounts for dependents possibly had usernames, passwords and Social Security numbers leaked, as well. But she stressed there has not been any reports from IU employees of fraudulent use of that information.
NoMoreClipboard is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services for 24 months to affected employees. The group established a website, nomoreclipboard.com/notice, as well as a toll-free hotline, (866) 328-1987.
