Four Month Investigation By ISP Leads To Finding Multiple Meth Labs

Last updated on Monday, August 24, 2015

(DAVIESS/KNOX CO.) - A four month long drug investigation ended with arrests and seizures of multiple active methamphetamine labs.

In April, Indiana State Trooper Mitchell Wier and Washington Police Department Officer Brandon Garland began an investigation from information they received during a traffic stop in Washington that led officers to believe that a meth manufacturing operation was happening at two Knox County homes.

At approximately 3 a.m. Friday, police from the ISP Evansville Post and Washington Police Department simultaneously arrived at the two locations:

Officers went to the home at 7280 South Hickory Corner Road in Monroe City and spoke with 41-year-old Timothy Lindauer, of Vincennes. After searching the home, troopers found meth and drug paraphernalia.

Lindauer, 27-year-old Levi Hinkle of Bicknell, and 30-year-old Jennifer Hartley of Monroe City were also in the home. They were arrested on felony charges of possession of meth and taken to the Knox County Jail.

After arriving at the jail, officers found Hinkle had meth on his person and he is now facing an additional felony charge of trafficking with an inmate.

Hartley was also wanted on a warrant for a probation violation.

At the same time, officers arrived at 1212 Buchanan Street in Monroe City. Officers spoke with 53-year-old Benjamin Jefferson and 42-year-old Annette Mize of Monroe City.

While at the home, officers smelled a strong chemical odor seeming to come from inside the house. After searching, they located six "one-pot" meth labs, the finished drug product and items used to manufacture the drug and drug paraphernalia.

Jefferson and Mize were arrested on charges of manufacturing meth, possession of meth, possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture meth, maintaining a common nuisance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Knox County Jail.

Jefferson was also charged with possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Investigating Officer: Trooper Mitchell Wier

Assisting Officers: Washington PD Officer Brandon Garland, Troopers Brett Pool, William Campbell, Hunter Manning, Ryan Johnson, Ted Clamme
