(WEGAN) - A driver hauling a load of logs was injured Tuesday after his truck left the road, struck a utility police and tipped onto its side.

52-year-old Terry Schepman, of Seymour, was able to crawl from the cab of the truck.

According to a Jackson County Police report, when police arrived at the scene on County Road 400 South near County Road 100 East, they found Schepman lying near the truck.

Schepman told police that he had swerved to miss a deer and that is when the passenger side tires of the truck left the roadway and the truck struck an REMC utility pole. The truck, owned by Schepman's father Wayne Schepman, then rolled onto its side.

Schepman who complained of shoulder pain and suffered cuts and bruises was taken by ambulance to Schneck Medical Center
